The Director provides leadership and management to the People and Organizational Development team working to support TNC teams and leaders around the world. They will lead in the development and delivery of staff leader development and organizational learning programs that support a decentralized and geographically dispersed organization. The Director will work closely with the Chief People Officer to raise funds for current and future programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
Determines strategic vision and goals for People Development and Organizational learning at TNC.
Builds strong relationships with executives and senior leaders across TNC.
Partners with colleagues across TNC to create commitment to vision and strategy.
Builds relationships with business and non-profits to stay current with best and next practices and identify opportunities for partnerships.
Leads staff in the development and completion of major projects and initiatives for implementation throughout the organization.
Designs and delivers high-impact developmental and social learning programs.
Manages and develops a team of high level professionals based in multiple locations.
Ability to travel up to 50-60% of the time, both within the United States and internationally.
Manages a budget, and works with Chief People Officer to raise funds for the programs.
Bachelors degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, or equivalent and 10 years direct related experience as a leader in organizational learning and/or staff and leadership development, or similar field.
Experience designing and delivering staff and leader development programs.
Proven track record of designing and delivering organizational change related to learning and development.
Senior level experience as an effective manager of multidisciplinary staff.
Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Organizational Leadership or similar.
Certification by a Training or Organizational Development professional organization.
Experienced in adult learning strategies.
Training and experience as a coach (e.g. executive).
Experience designing or adapting learning to multiple cultural contexts and learners.
Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesia, or Swahili in addition to English(s).
Excellent interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and strong client service orientation.
A working knowledge of complex social challenges and/or conservation issues and systems thinking/innovation methods.
Inclusive leadership skills and experience managing teams with a commitment to respecting team dynamics, and a strong ability to understand and credit diverse perspectives, and synthesize multiple perspectives to achieve the best outcome.
