The City Council of Glenn Heights Texas is seeking applicants for the position of City Manager. City Council Members indicate an interest in a person with strong leadership and interpersonal skills who can assist the Council in preparing the City for the growth and changes in the community which they see coming.Glenn Heights is located 20 miles south of downtown Dallas on Interstate Highway 35E. Interstate Highway 35 is the major north/south corridor through Texas and the midwestern U.S. The City lies in Dallas and Ellis Counties. Since its incorporation in 1969, the population of the City has grown to an estimated 12,200 in 2017. The City is known for moderately priced housing and a low cost of living. The City Manager directs an organization with a 2017-2018 Operating Budget totaling $15.8 million and 90 FTE’s. The City organization is structured with a number of operating departments and divisions headed by department heads appointed by the City Manager including Administration, City Secretary, Organizational Development, Information Technology, Finance, Municipal Court, Fire, Police, Economic Development, Planning & Development Services, Parks & Community Engagement and Public Works. The City Council is seeking candidates who have at least ten years of experience in local government including service as a city manager or city administrator in an organization of comparable size and complexity to the City of Glenn Heights.This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in public or business administration or a related field.A Master’s Degree is a plus.
