The Wastewater Treatment Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Supervisor performs a variety of specialized technical tasks in support of the Operations Division in the Wastewater Group. The position focuses on the supervision of a large activated sludge wastewater treatment plant as well as the management of the personnel directly involved in the treatment process. Under general direction, the Wastewater Treatment O&M Supervisor plans, schedules, organizes, and directs a work unit program comprised of skilled personnel engaged in the operation and maintenance of a large wastewater treatment plant; ensures the proper, efficient and safe operation of the collection and treatment systems and facilities; provides for program support and participation with internal and external stakeholders; and performs related duties as assigned. The Wastewater Treatment O&M Supervisor is responsible for formulating and developing work unit goals and objectives, supervising assigned personnel and directing day-to-day activities. Work and results are reviewed through regular individual and team meetings, inspection and analysis of records, reports and plant performance. Previous experience in a leadership role is required. The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
Knowledge of the principles, methods, practices and techniques utilized in chemical and biological analyses.
Knowledge of safety practices, safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to related work.
Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws and regulations.
The ability to analyze difficult and complex program, administrative, operational and organizational objectives and issues, evaluating alternatives and reaching sound, logical and fact-based conclusions and recommendations.
The ability to coordinate program activities with multiple stakeholders and facilitate development of partnerships and multi-agency agreements.
The ability to prepare clear, concise and comprehensive reports, correspondence and other documents appropriate to the audience.
