The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking qualified, energetic applicants to be considered for a fast-paced, dynamic, and rewarding position as Code Compliance Manager in the Department of Sustainable Development. As outlined in Press Play, the City's Strategic Plan 2018, the Code Compliance Division is presently implementing a robust process improvement initiative with the objective of reducing the time frame between citation and compliance to create strong, beautiful, and healthy neighborhoods. The ideal candidate for the Code Compliance Manager position will have experience in restructuring operations; managing administrative and field staff; have demonstrated ability to use performance metrics to meet operational targets; is well-organized, innovative and efficient; has considerable knowledge of appropriate laws, rules, regulations, and procedures governing state, county, and municipal ordinances; is a highly ethical, creative, strategic, and forward thinker with the ability to work independently; and has a high level of integrity with a strong sense of urgency and a focus on service to internal and external customers.
This is highly responsible managerial and administrative work of considerable difficulty directing, appraising, analyzing, coordinating and supervising code compliance and community inspections activities, including the City's Code Enforcement Board, Special Magistrate Hearings, and other administrative boards.
An employee in this classification is responsible for planning, budgeting, organizing, directing, coordinating and supervising of the various activities of the Code Compliance Division; reviewing the work of professional, paraprofessional, supervisory, technical, and clerical support personnel. An employee in this class is responsible for developing and updating programs, policies, work methods and procedures necessary for the effective and efficient operations of community inspections. Work also includes leading and participating in efforts to educate the public regarding code compliance issues as a means of increasing compliance.
An employee in this classification is required to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in the performance of work assignments. The employee must utilize specialized knowledge and experience in conjunction with City regulations, procedures and ordinances to meet job objectives. Work accomplishments are reviewed through written reports, staff meetings, conferences, and observation of results achieved.
Starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and is accompanied by an excellent benefits package.
