FORSYTH COUNTY, GEORGIA
Forsyth County, Georgia, seeks experienced candidates to apply for the County Manager position. Forsyth County, a fast-growing community of approximately 212,000 residents and 247 square miles, is located 30 miles north of Atlanta in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
The County has both suburban and rural characteristics and provides resident access to major employment, cultural, recreational, educational, and medical centers both in the county and in neighboring communities. The county includes 200 miles of shoreline along Lake Sidney Lanier, 2000 acres of parkland, and a major greenway/trail system.
County resources include 1,400 full-time and 400 part-time employees and a total FY 2016-17 budget of $289,000,000. Voters consistently have supported general obligation and special purpose bonds for transportation, parks, and county facilities. The County has the highest available bond ratings from rating agencies.
The County Manager is appointed by a five-member Board of Commissioners elected from five districts for staggered four year terms. The Manager is responsible for implementing policies; developing long and short range plans; and developing policy recommendations for Board consideration.
