The City of Norfolk, Virginia (population 247,000) is recruiting for a highly experienced local government chief executive to provide strong leadership and management to a full-service organization. The City Manager is accountable for leading a dynamic and robust organization that provides traditional services through 22 departments, with approximately 5,000 staff and a budget of $1.2 billion. This is an at-will executive position appointed by, and serving at the pleasure of, the City Council. Through a highly skilled executive team, the City Manager oversees a value-based organization that implements the City Council’s short- and long-term strategies to accomplish the City's mission and vision.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and significant and relevant experience managing a city or county government with similar scope and complexities. A Master’s degree or other advanced degree may be considered a plus. The City offers a highly competitive salary with an excellent benefits package.
