It is the mission of Loudoun County’s Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services to promote mental, behavioral and developmental health and wellness by connecting individuals and their families with person-centered, recovery-oriented services and supports in partnership with the Loudoun community. We are seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Medical Director. This position will provide clinical leadership to strategic, operational, and quality operations within center-based and community-based Medical Services. The successful candidate will have experience in leading physicians and advanced practice providers in a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will have specialty experience and/or specialty training in behavioral health and primary care, with a demonstrated ability to provide the highest quality professional service. The Medical Director is a member of Executive Leadership Team reporting to the Department Director and is responsible for program development and implementation. The Medical Director also represents the Department in local, regional, and state initiatives addressing mental health, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities. The Medical Director will be primarily located in the Leesburg Mental Health Center, but will also schedule client hours in the Eastern Loudoun Mental Health Center. The schedule will include day and limited evening hours until 8:00 pm. This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Responsibilities include:
Coordinating medical management standards and medication documentation in Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
Supervision of and consultation with staff and contract psychiatrists, licensed nurse practitioners and nurse managers.
Budget and management oversight for Medical and Clinical Care Services.
Performing psychiatric evaluations and medication management.
Conducting Independent Evaluations for civil commitment hearings.

10 years of related professional experience, including supervisory
A current license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
A current DEA license
Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Psychiatry
Completion of a Child Psychiatry Fellowship and Board Certification in Child Psychiatry is strongly preferred.
Prior experience with the performance of forensic assessment.
Functional program management experience is preferred.
Fluency in the Spanish is highly desirable
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background, credit and driving record check, and a TB test. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
