BCFS Health and Human Services (HHS) is one of seven non-profit organizations in the BCFS global system, which has locations and programs throughout the United States, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. Our Emergency Management Division (EMD) is a nationally recognized leader in the field of emergency management and disaster response, providing all-hazards turnkey response solutions and comprehensive emergency management planning, training, and exercises for local, state, and federal jurisdictions.
The Emergency Management Division seeks an innovative leader with strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills to serve as its new Executive Director. Under the supervision of the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer–Administration, Education & Emergency Operations, the Executive Director directs and evaluates emergency management preparedness and response program activities. The ideal candidate has the personality and ability to collaborate with a diverse group of emergency management stakeholders, including local government elected and appointed officials, state emergency management directors and staff, and federal and private sector partners in disaster response—from contracting officers’ representatives to operational and tactical level personnel.
The selected candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or a related field and at least seven (7) years of experience working in emergency management or public safety to include management experience and experience in providing financial oversight of multi-million dollar programs and projects. Knowledge of federal, state, and local grants and contracts and experience in a leadership role during real-world disaster response are required. Those candidates must have NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 or the ability to obtain them within a year of employment. Ten (10) years of experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Preferred credentials are:
Master’s degree in emergency management, public administration, business or related field
Professional emergency management certification (Certified Emergency Manager, Associate Emergency Manager, or state equivalent)
Master Trainer or Master Exercise Practitioner certification
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
