Village Manager, Village of Mamaroneck, NY (19,423) The Village of Mamaroneck is located in the southeastern portion of New York State, just north of New York City in Westchester County, and is adjacent to Long Island Sound.
The enclosed harbor with its beautiful Harbor Park is a treasure to the community and used by residents to participate in sports or relax and enjoy the view of the harbor and its surroundings. In early May when over 150 Japanese cherry trees are in bloom, the Harbor Park is at its finest.

The Village of Mamaroneck is a home rule municipality that operates under the Village Manager form of government (similar to the Council/Manager form). The Mayor and four Village Board Members are elected to two-year, overlapping terms. The Village Board appoints the Village Manager.
The Village Manager is responsible for the implementation of policies and programs approved by the Board of Trustees and provides executive and administrative leadership to the Village organization. The Village Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the Village and is responsible, under the direction of the Board of Trustees, for planning reporting, organizing, staffing, coordinating, budgeting and evaluating all local government activities, with the exception of the Police Department. The Village Manager makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees relative to operations, capital planning, budgeting, debt management, and strategic and long-range planning.
The Village Manager serves a number of roles in the Village government, including human resources administrator, labor relations manager, grant writer and coordinator, budget and procurement officer, insurance administrator and Village liaison to other governmental entities.
The position requirements are summarized as follows:
A Bachelor’s Degree; a Master’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy or related field is preferred;
Five (5) years progressively responsible municipal experience in a community of similar size and complexity, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would demonstrate the skills and abilities to perform the work.
Candidates must have strong leadership skills, open and honest communication skills and an approachable style and the proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships.
Strong financial and budget, human resources and labor relations experience.
The ability to prioritize and manage multi projects simultaneously and keep the Village Board informed of their progress is critical.
The ability to express ideas effectively in written and oral form is also required.
Salary range is up to $175,000 to $205,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits package.
