The City of Raleigh invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Management Fellow. The Management Fellow provides research, management, and administrative support to the City Manager, Assistant City Manager, and the Chief of Staff. The Fellow performs assigned research, policy analysis, and other directly related public administration and management analysis functions for the organization, and will interact with all departments in the City organization. Organizationally the position is located within the City Manager's Office and will be supervised by an Assistant City Manager. This talented professional with a master's degree in public administration, management, public policy, public affairs, or related area, will be given the opportunity to play a key role in a myriad of high-priority City projects, and contribute to the organization at the executive leadership level; thrive in an environment that recognizes potential; and gain unique exposure to City operations. This is a time delimited position. The successful applicant is anticipated to serve the City for up to an 18-month term, with periodic intermediate appraisals. The City of Raleigh Management Fellowship was created to generate interest in local government careers among recent master's program graduates and to provide a new opportunity for recent graduates to obtain local government experience. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $40,712.00 to $44,885.00. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Management Fellow will: Perform research and policy analysis on high-level issues of concern for the organization Report research findings to the City Manager and/or other executive staff in writing and in person Respond to requests from citizens, community organizations, and employees Participate in the City budget and/or strategic planning process Attend City Council, department meetings, and related management discussions and provide follow-up briefings to staff as requested Coordinate and track follow-up items from City Council meetings Plan and coordinate various meetings and events Review, update, and implement department policies and procedures Manage the recruitment and hiring process for new management fellow The application deadline is Sunday, February 24, 2018 at 11:59 PM ET.
