CITY OF ISLE OF PALMS, SOUTH CAROLINA
We’re excited to announce this opportunity for an experienced city administrator passionate about strategically leading a small, barrier island city into the future.
Under general policy direction of the City Council, the City Administrator carries out the policies and programs determined by the elected City Council. There is no requirement for residency however residency is required within a reasonable distance.
The City has 92 FTE employees, plus part-time/seasonal employees. The FY 2018 total budget for the City is approximately $21M, 21% of which is tourism revenue. The City Council utilizes several standing committees such as Public Safety, Ways & Means, Personnel, etc., to deal with issues in a thorough manner before they are taken to the full City Council for action.

The starting annual salary will be market competitive DOQ/E with benefit plan provided plus a reasonable relocation expense reimbursement will be negotiated.

The City is looking for the next leader to help pursue the vision of the island. The ideal candidate will help identify, evaluate, and strategically address the challenges and needs of all city stakeholders. Qualifications include a BS/BA in public administration, political science, business management or related field; 7-10 years experience in municipal government; MS/MA preferred; be able to obtain a South Carolina driver’s license.
