The City of Covington is located in the heart of northeast Georgia, approximately forty miles east of Atlanta, in Newton County. The City of Covington operates under a weak-mayor system of government. The City Council is the governing body and consists of six Council members and a Mayor. The City of Covington seeks an energetic, visionary candidate with strong leadership skills to serve as its new City Manager.
The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public administration, business administration, management, or a closely related field. A master’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license are preferred. The candidate should have five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the private industry as a senior executive officer or similar experience in a full-service county/municipal government at the level of a county/city administrator/manager, finance director, or senior city management official. The chosen candidate will be required to possess a valid State of Georgia driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record. The salary range for this position is $115,128.00 - $160,041.60, depending on qualifications and experience.
