The City of Dallas, serving as the county seat and a thriving regional hub, is the third most populous city in the state and the ninth most populous in the country.
Dallas County seeks an innovative, visionary leader to serve as its new Chief Information Officer. The candidate selected for this position must be able to develop, implement, and evaluate plans, changes, and improvements that help meet department, organization, and community goals. Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and guidelines as they relate to information services is required. The CIO must possess excellent project management skills, exceptional critical thinking skills, a strong understanding of budgets and financial forecasting, and sound judgement. The ability to work well and respond quickly under pressure is essential.
The selected candidate must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Ten years (10) of information technology-related experience, including seven (7) years of information technology management experience in increasingly significant roles such as CIO, vice president of information technology, or manager of a major technology section, is required. Experience must include the development and oversight of program budgets as well as strategic and operational planning. A valid Texas driver’s license and a good driving record are required. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills will be considered.
