The City of Gainesville is seeking a highly qualified and proactive individual as the Director of Sustainable Development. The Director will strategically encourage business growth, intentional economic development and sustainable land use planning throughout the City. In this position you will also coordinate the interests of private developers with those of the general public to encourage the most suitable development of the City's urbanized area; and provide professional advice and assistance to business leaders, industry and other groups and agencies regarding general planning and development within the City. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in public, private or non-profit organizations in business development, planning & zoning, community development or a related area which includes three (3) or more years of supervisory or management experience. Valid driver license required upon appointment. A Master Degree from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred and may substitute for the required experience on a year-to-year basis. Individuals employed in this designated managerial position are required to be a resident of the City of Gainesville and will be expected to relocate to the City within six months of appointment.
