Position: DIRECTOR, CONSTRUCTION COORDINATION DIVISION
Salary: $94,660 to $166,052 Annually, commensurate with qualifications

Hours: 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday - Friday

THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.
The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners (PBC BCC) invites applications for Director, Construction Coordination, for the County’s Engineering and Public Works Department. This is supervisory and administrative work in the construction of County contractual projects, subdivision projects and permit projects. Has responsibility for the actual field administration and supervision of the construction of all contracts projects, subdivision projects in conjunction with consulting engineering firms in charge of respective projects and utility permit projects. Leads the supervision of major County roads/bridges/drainage construction contracts, and subdivision, permit and community development projects in throughout the County.
This position will coordinate the activities of a 21-employee division involved in coordination of the construction of County contract, subdivision and permit projects. Primary duties include: Maintains close coordination with County divisions and departments to discuss mutual interests relating to construction projects; negotiates change orders; maintains close coordination with other governmental agencies along with local engineers, architects and contractors to keep updated on the latest material and techniques as they relate to construction; ensures that County, State, and required standards and specifications are applied and adhered to; presents final project acceptance to the Board of County Commissioners, upon completion of the projects. Significant responsibilities where you can demonstrate your knowledge of construction principles, administrative and technology skills, and supervisory abilities: Attends pre-construction conferences on County contracts, subdivisions and permit projects; conducts site inspections; meets with construction superintendents, engineers, contractors, and subordinates to resolve construction, safety, and quality issues; composes agenda items for submittal to the Deputy County Engineer; keeps staff apprised of changes and new techniques in construction industry; meets with the general public to discuss any complaints which may arise from construction projects; reviews construction plans with Construction Coordinators to identify and resolve potential problems before construction starts; coordinates construction and funding requirements with local, state, and federal agencies; reviews projects monthly verifying quantities of work completed and approves all contractor pay requests.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Technology or related field; five (5) years of experience in building, road, bridge and drainage construction, including two (2) years of experience in the supervisory aspects of the work. Equivalencies: Related Associate's Degree or an unrelated Bachelor's Degree and seven (7) years of related experience including two (2) years of experience in the supervisory aspects of the workOR graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and nine (9) years of related experience including two (2) years of experience in the supervisory aspects of the work. Experience in local governmental road and bridge construction highly preferred.
