Waco is a home rule city with a council-manager form of government. The Waco-McLennan County Public Health District Board is an advisory board created to guide public health activities, including policy development for the protection and promotion of health within McLennan County, Texas. The 17-member board is comprised of 14 local government representatives and three community representatives which are appointed by their respective city, agency, or the County. The appointment of the Public Health Director is recommended by the Waco City Manager and approved by the Board.
The City of Waco seeks an innovative, results-driven Public Health Director to provide sound leadership for the City’s Public Health Division. A qualified candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services, Public Health, Nursing, Business or Public Administration, Social Work or a related field, and five years of Public Health program management experience or related experience, including supervisory experience. A Master’s Degree preferred.
