Loudoun County, Virginia, is seeking a new Director of Family Services. The Director oversees all functions within the Family Services Department, including clinical programs, protective services, community services, outreach, homeless services, and emergency assistance. The Director of Family Services provides oversight of a range of programs that positively impact the community and make a difference in the lives of the County’s most vulnerable populations. The position is open, following more than three years of services from the former Director.
As the head of the Family Services Department, the Director has administrative authority over all department staff and is responsible for the preparation and implementation of the department’s annual budget. This position ensures reporting requirements of state and federal funding providers are met and that programmatic compliance is maintained.
The Director of Family Services currently has six (6) direct reports, including a Deputy Director, Workforce Resource Center Manager, Quality Assurance and Compliance Program Manager, Finance Manager, and Employee Development Manager. This individual reports directly to one of the organization’s four Assistant County Administrators.
The Director serves as primary support to the Family Services Advisory Board, which is appointed by the Board of Supervisors, and the Community Policy and Management Team (CPMT), the local oversight body for the services and programs under the Children’s Services Act (CSA).
The hiring range is $157,080 to $185,130, depending on qualifications. A competitive total compensation package will consider the candidate’s experience and expertise and will include an excellent benefits package.

Experience and Education
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience, including two (2) years in a management role and operational oversight experience. A bachelor’s degree and nine (9) years of relevant experience may also be considered. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license, submit to a CPS background check and a criminal background check, and comply with the Human Resources Driving Policy.
Preferred qualifications include local government experience and high-level management experience leading teams in family services, social services, or other related fields.
