The City of Columbia, Office of Sustainability is accepting applications for Sustainability Manager. This position will direct, administer, and manage the activities of the Office of Sustainability in support of organizational policies, goals, and objectives as established by the Deputy City Manager and City Manager. This position will provide guidance and direction to the Office of Sustainability in the planning, development, promotion, and delivery of services to the community as well as perform supervisory responsibilities. The Sustainability Manager should have thorough knowledge of sustainability monitoring systems such as USGBC LEED, STAR Communities, EPA portfolio manager, ICLEI ClearPath. Effective written and oral communication skills necessary for technical writing and grant writing. Ability to conduct presentations to both small and large groups. Ability to effectively communicate to the press, government organizations, and general public on various sustainability and environmental issues. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, or Business Administration or related field required; a Master’s degree is desired. Five years experience in administering environmental, energy, and sustainability programs through various monitoring systems and life cycle cost analyses.
