The Assistant City Clerk will direct the daily office operations and programs of the Legislative section of the City Clerk’s Office. Supervise and develop the legislative section staff.
Provide support to City Council meetings and assist executive management.
Act as the City Clerk in the event of their absence. Assist the City Clerk with coordinating and directing election activities and other tasks as needed.
Review all agenda documents and materials prior to distribution.
Understand City regulations, federal and local election laws, and ensure staff adherence during the preparation and publication of items.
Lead and manage meetings which may collaborate with multiple department staff.
Extensive experience working in a City/County Clerk's office in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Comfortable and experienced working with elected officials and management on high profile assignments or meetings.
Politically astute with the ability to recognize sensitive situations.
Strong leadership and ability to run meetings while being cognizant of the needs of the team.
High level of attention to detail while working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Adaptability and flexibility to attend special meetings at designated times.
Excellent customer service, project management, and communication skills.
Associate's degree in public administration, business, records management or related field.
Five years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience, with at least three years in a city/county clerk’s office, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities
Valid California driver's license required.
Notary Public certification required within six months of hire date.
Certified Municipal Clerk designation required within twelve months of hire date.
