Situated on the eastern side of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and headquartered in Wylie, the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) serves one of the largest and fastest-growing regions in the country. Providing water, Wastewater and Solid Waste services to over 1.8 million people in about eighty communities in ten counties, NTMWD is an organization built on a long legacy of service and commitment.
The NTMWD is managed by a board of directors, appointed by each of the 13 member cities, who work diligently to ensure the vitality and success of the region by making sure the cities have the essential services they need to thrive. Executive Director and General Manager Jenna Covington oversees the daily operations for the District.
The Deputy Director for Finance and Administration reports directly to NTMWD’s Executive Director/General Manager and leads a team of 62 employees overseeing all aspects of the organization’s Administrative Services operations including finance, accounting, purchasing, human resources, training, and IT.
The NTMWD seeks a knowledgeable, well-rounded, and team-oriented leader who can work effectively with employees across the organization and confidently interact with members of the Board of Directors, members and customer cities as well as the public.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field with a master’s degree preferred. Candidates should also have at least 10 years of experience in utility finance, including seven in a supervisory position, with skills in public finance, accounting, financial reporting, IT, and personnel management.
Ideal candidates will hold designations as a Certified Public Accountant and/or Certified Government Finance Officer and have five years of experience as a Chief Financial Officer or similar position with an organization managing a budget of more than $100 million. Additionally, preference given for candidates with experience with executive management, city councils, boards and/or commission.
The annual salary range for this position is $200,000 to $260,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
