The City of Rye is a small, coastal suburban community located in the southeastern section of Westchester County, just 25 miles north of New York City. Rye is distinguished by its quaint downtown, historic buildings, bucolic neighborhoods, the surrounding Long Island Sound, and its natural, open spaces. The City Manager is seeking an experienced, polished, and professional individual who possesses the skills and abilities to accomplish organizational goals and who espouses public sector servant leadership values. The successful candidate will have applied knowledge of NYS Civil Service Law, specifically all ministerial and reporting requirements pertaining to personnel administration. They will also have experience with messaging and communicating public policies with stakeholders, such as land use regulations, environmental impacts, and policies.
The successful candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and organizational attributes of municipal government administration. This position requires a Master’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field and three years of experience working for a local government, preferably in New York State; or a Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience working for a local government, preferably in New York State.
This position is subject to residency requirements under Public Officers Law. New York State residency is required.
The desired starting compensation range for the Assistant City Manager position is $150,000 +/- depending on qualifications and experience.
