The Glenview Park District (population 58,000+) is one of the premier park districts in Illinois. Located 20 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, Glenview Park District employs 110 full-time employees plus over 1,000 seasonal and part-time employees. The Park District has a $27 million operating budget plus a current capital budget of $5 million and debt service budget of approximately $4 million. The District enjoys a AAA bond rating from Moody’s Investor Services. The Glenview Park District has 26 parks encompassing over 850 acres of parkland.
Numerous recreational facilities include a 170,000 square foot community center which features an indoor pool, full-service fitness facility, gymnasiums, senior center, preschool, dance and arts studios, banquet facilities, and several multipurpose rooms. The district has two outdoor pool complexes, a completely renovated indoor ice-skating complex, one 18-hole golf course with full-service restaurant/banquet facilities, a 9-hole golf course with paddle tennis courts, and indoor tennis facility. The district also features three museums including Full Air Station Prairie nature preserve, The Grove outdoor history and nature museum, and Historic Wagner Farm living history dairy farm. The district has several outdoor amenities including field houses, outdoor tennis/pickleball courts, a disc golf course, dog park, inline skating park, splash pads, athletic fields and more.
The District is seeking a highly qualified professional who provides dynamic leadership for the overall department of Brand Strategy and Community Engagement. This Director is responsible for establishing collaborative relationships in the development, execution and coordination of marketing and communication initiatives, policies and procedures that support the unique marketing needs of each business unit while operating under the overall Park District umbrella. This position is also responsible for website design and content, social media, email marketing, direct mail marketing, seasonal brochure development, public relations, advertising, signage display, and the District’s sponsorship program and working with local jurisdictions in the promotion and support of community-wide events. Additionally, this position is the liaison for the press and, at times, the District spokesperson and therefore building relationships with local agencies and availability is key. This Director reports directly to the Executive Director, is accountable for an annual budget of approximately $650,000 plus indirectly responsible for an equal amount for the marketing budget at the facility level. This Director has supervisory responsibility for three (3) full-time staff, in addition to marketing interns and consultants. This position also oversees the Partnership Manager position which is currently vacant. This Director will work closely with Division Superintendents, program and facility directors and managers as well as interacting with seven elected Board members. The successful candidate will also be expected to continuously demonstrate the interpersonal skills and judgment to create trust, deliver results, mentor staff and influence a positive culture throughout the District. There have been many challenges facing the district due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This Director will assist the District transition to recovery mode of operations and promote a high level of employee engagement, satisfaction and team building.

A proven track record in the development, delivery and coordination of marketing, communications and brand strategies for a complex multi-faceted organization.
Excellent leadership qualities, strong communications skills and the ability to work in partnershipwith all areas of the district.
Exceptional project management skills, knowledge of data analytics multi-tasking abilities are essential.
The successful candidate must possess a minimum bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, business, or other related field required.
Experience: At least 5 years’ related progressive supervisory, marketing, sponsorship and public relations experience.
Certifications / Memberships: Professional certification(s) and/or active membership in a professional association desirable.
