Harris County is transforming the way we do government and is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and motivated leader to serve as the first Deputy County Administrator (DCA)–Health and Opportunity. The DCA–Health and Opportunity will be responsible for implementing the goals, priority outcomes, and strategic plans of Commissioners Court in the areas of Public Health and Economic Opportunity. The DCA–Health and Opportunity will directly oversee Public Health, Pollution Control, Community Services, the Public Library, and Economic Equity and Opportunity departments and will be responsible for coordinating with over a dozen other agencies.
The primary responsibility of this role will be to provide strategic, data-driven oversight of public-facing services and facilitate a wrap-around approach to serving clients. The successful candidate will excel at solving complex operational and structural challenges, such as managing across social services providers and government agencies. The DCA–Health and Opportunity will be well-situated to evaluate which combination and levels of health and social services yield the best outcomes for the clients. The DCA–Health and Opportunity will work closely with Commissioners Court to secure financial resources and coordinate policy objectives.

Reporting to the County Administrator, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience with operations and management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Establishes the vision, goals, objectives, and success metrics of the DCA–Health and Opportunity office.
Oversees departments, programs, and services with a strategic, data-driven approach
Creates and manages the process of coordinating and collaborating with public health and social services entities.
Builds strong and collaborative relationships between Commissioners Court and other public health and social services entities.
Provides data, analysis, and recommendations to Commissioners Court regarding progress to date on primary objectives.
