About City of Bell Gardens
The City of Bell Gardens is a dynamic community located 15 miles southeast of the Los Angeles Civic Center and 15 miles east of the Los Angeles International Airport. As a suburb of Los Angeles, Bell Gardens is close to many of the cultural, educational, sport and recreational advantages offered in Southern California. The City has excellent regional access via the Long Beach freeway, which comprises the City's westerly boundary, and the Santa Ana freeway which is located just north of the City. The City of Bell Gardens incorporated as a general law city in August 1961, and operates under the Council-City Manager form of government. The City has a population of 44,000 and spans 2.4 square miles. The City of Bell Gardens employs approximately 147 full-time personnel, has its own Police Department and has an annual budget of $39 million.
