The Green Mountain Transit Authority (GMT), located in Burlington, VT, seeks an innovative General Manager to lead a high-performance public transportation organization. GMT is the only Regional Transit Agency and the largest public transit system operating in the state of Vermont. The General Manager is the chief executive officer of the organization and reports to an appointed Board of Commissioners representing a five-county area. The individual in this position will build upon the legacy of an organization that has maintained a strong focus on providing quality service to its customers. In addition to fixed route service in the urban area, GMT’s rural division operates fixed route, demand response, coordinated human service, and Medicaid transportation in four surrounding rural counties.
Burlington is situated between Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains, providing picturesque views and plenty of opportunity for outdoor activity.

At least five years of progressively responsible senior management experience in a service-oriented industry such as transportation is desired; experience in union labor negotiations is
preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration or a related field is required. The salary range is $125,000 to $160,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Headquartered in Burlington, Vermont, Green Mountain Transit serves Burlington and greater Chittenden Conty as well as Washington, Franklin, Lamoille and Grand Isle Counties.
