The City of Spartanburg, South Carolina (pop. 38,401) is seeking an Assistant City Manager. Located along the rapidly growing I-85 corridor, Spartanburg has seen a sustained resurgence in economic investment and energy in recent years and is well positioned for continued growth. The Assistant City Manager (ACM) supports the City Manager by assuming leadership and management responsibilities for assigned functions and services and directs the activities and operations of assigned departments. The ACM collaborates with departments to prepare and present the city’s annual budget, leads conversations with department heads to clarify City objectives and develop departmental goals, and reviews and recommends policies for the City Manager and City Council's approval.
