The Town of Sunnyvale seeks an experienced and diligent municipal government professional of high integrity who will help take the organization and its financial management to the next level. The incoming Assistant Town Manager/Chief Financial Officer must have a strong background in all aspects of municipal financial management, including tax increment reinvestment zones and capital improvement planning and financing. Experience as a finance director in a community of similar size, or perhaps an assistant finance director for a larger city, would be ideal, as would some experience with human resource and internal service management.
The ideal candidate will be an innovator who inspires and motivates staff to meet high-performance standards without micromanaging and facilitates harmonious and productive relationships between Council, staff, and various stakeholders. This seasoned professional and lifelong learner should have strong aspirations to become a city manager and possess the leadership skills necessary to help develop a talented team, allowing them to reach their full potential.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business or public administration, or a related field, with a master’s degree preferred. Candidates should also have at least seven years of experience as a department head in municipal finance, including knowledge of enterprise fund operations, Texas truth-in-taxation laws, financial transparency, tax increment reinvestment zones, and process improvement. Certification as a Government Finance Officer is also a plus.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
The annual salary range for the position is $150,000-$175,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
