The Village of Flossmoor, Illinois (population 9,704 per the 2020 census), a progressive, mature full service south suburban community of the Chicago metropolitan area, seeks an Assistant to the Village Manager to coordinate communications and oversee business development efforts. Position is an integral member of the manager’s office and has routine contact with all Departments and the public. Regular duties include coordinating communication efforts (social media, print newsletters, and press releases, website content) managing business development including TIF administration, and serving as a staff liaison to various commissions. Village is seeking candidates with relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in communication, political science, public administration or related field or equivalent experience with a minimum of three years of experience; ideal candidate has a masters in public administration or a related field. The Organization: The Village of Flossmoor is a non-home rule community operating under the Council/Manager form of government and has had only five Village Managers since 1967. The Village has a general fund budget of $17M and a total budget of $38M.
