The MTAS legal consultant based in West Tennessee provides professional advice and technical assistance to Tennessee municipalities, as well as to, related state government, association, and affiliate stakeholders. This consultant conducts research, develops and maintains timely technical reports and publications on critical issues, develops and teaches training courses, and assists other consultants in the agency in the performance of individual and team projects. MTAS was created in 1949 to provide technical assistance to municipal governments within the state of Tennessee. MTAS legal consultants help city officials deal with the complexities of today's municipal legal environment. Services offered by MTAS attorneys include writing legal opinions, preparing and revising city charters, drafting ordinances and resolutions, and providing copies of sample ordinances from other cities.
