Requirements for the position include the following:
• A bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field
• A master’s degree is desired
• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in local government management in city, township or county government as a city, township or county manager, or a senior department head
• Experience in economic and community development; personnel and labor relations; budget and finance, intergovernmental relations, public safety and public works
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Additional qualifications include expertise in organizational skills and follow-through, demonstrated leadership and managerial capabilities, and prior experience in effectively managing complex organizations similar to East Lansing
