A Great Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly-skilled Web Developer to develop, maintain, and enhance diverse software applications based on documented requirements. The Web Developer will review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and document test results. This position utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
The Web Developer is also responsible for maintaining websites and website-related applications/servers. The position works closely with all business units to identify, recommend and implement strategies and tools to continually enhance the customer experience while engaging with our Web site.
The Web Developer reports to the Senior Applications Developer.
What you'll do:
Serve as the primary contact for all aspects of the organization’s website(s).
Develop and maintain internet and intranet portals, forms, and structures in accordance with the organization’s needs; collaborate closely with business units.
Develop, implement, and/or support integration with ecosystem of internal and external facing Web applications such as AMS, LMS, e-commerce etc in collaboration with the related departments.
Collect and analyze web analytics and similar data; identify opportunities to improve search engine optimization (SEO), time on site, web traffic, and other relevant metrics.
Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
Debug existing software and correct defects.
Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
Create, maintain and provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
Assist staff with use of company websites through one-on-one support, user guides, and training sessions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
What you need to be successful in this role:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university and 1 year of Software / Web development experience OR
Associate degree in computer science or related discipline and two (2) years of Software / Web development experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Extensive knowledge of website management, analytics, design, and SEO best practices and standards
Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn web content management systems, applications, and tools used by the organization
Working knowledge of HTML/CSS; XML, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, .NET and other programming languages.
General knowledge of Agile software development methodology
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, customer service, and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work well individually or as part of a team
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

This position is based out of ICMA’s headquarters, located in Washington, D.C. At this time, all ICMA staff are working remotely. The selected individual must be able to work the core business hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST. Our office will remain operational and accessible for staff to use on a voluntary basis.
A high-speed Internet connection is required. Personnel will provide the Internet service at their own expense. The internet connection must be of sufficient bandwidth to allow the team member to efficiently perform their regular job functions.
