The School of Public Administration (SPA) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Public Policy, in any general or specific policy area, starting in Fall 2024. Specialties may include, but are not limited to, FAU’s strategic pillars and platforms such as: Health, Artificial Intelligence, or Environmental policy/sustainability policies. Candidates should be able to teach in our Bachelor of Public Management, Master of Public Administration, and Ph.D. programs in general public administration/public policy, and quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.
Florida Atlantic University is a multi-campus doctoral research university (RU/High Research Activity), with approximately 30,000 students. SPA is housed in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. SPA provides intellectual, analytical, technical, and practical education to advance the state of knowledge in public administration and public policy and to enhance ethical and other public service values within its service region. Successful candidates may be eligible to join an existing community of scholars at FAU’s different research centers in many policy areas, such as the Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering, I-Health, and the new School of Environmental, Coastal, and Ocean Sustainability, among others.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. in Public Administration/Public Policy, Political Science, or a closely related field. The successful candidate must have the Ph.D. completed by the start of the fall 2024 semester. • A record of scholarly excellence and an active, or emerging, research agenda in public policy in any general or specific area. • Superior communication skills and the ability to teach across multiple degree programs (in-person and online modalities), including general public policy and public administration, including quantitative and/or qualitative research methods. • Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. • A record of service to their university, profession, and/or community. • Evidence of contributions to excellence of student learning experience through research, teaching, and/or public engagement. • Demonstrates skills for understanding cultural differences. • A record of or the potential to obtain external research support. • Expertise with a wide array of research and analytical methods. • Demonstrated engagement with local, state, and national public service organizations in related areas of expertise.
