Harnessing an annual operating budget of $783,062 and powered by an effective team of four employees, the Human Resources (HR) Department attracts, recruits, and rewards a top-notch team of diverse professionals from across the country. Reporting to the Deputy City Manager, Passion Hayes, the Director of Human Resources oversees the Human Resources Department, including benefits and wellness, compensation and classification, training and development, employee relations, workers compensation, and employee health and safety programs. This high-touch position assists directors and managers with employment issues, including interviewing, hiring, performance appraisals, progressive disciplinary actions, promotions, terminations, grievances, and complaints. They research, develop, write, and update policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines, as well as communicate and enforce City values governing human resources.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, public administration, or a related field, plus seven years of human resources experience, including three years of lead and supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Must be able to establish and maintain harmonious relations with fellow employees, Town officials, and outside contracts. Candidates with public sector experience are preferred, but individuals with private sector experience in strong cultural environments are encouraged to apply. A valid Texas Driver’s License and a safe driving record are required. A clear criminal background check and clear pre-employment drug screen is required. A Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Senior Certified Professional (IPMA-SCP or SHRMSCP) is preferred.
