Charming and welcoming, the City of Jackson is located in southwestern Minnesota at the intersection of Interstate 90 and U.S. Hwy. 71, nestled in a valley of the West Fork of the Des Moines River. With a population of 3,360 in 4.6 square miles, Jackson is the largest city and the county seat of Jackson County. Jackson is the largest small city around. The City of Jackson operates under a mayor-council form of government. The City has seven Council Members, including the Mayor. The City Administrator and all employees are appointed and/or confirmed by the governing body.
Jackson Ambulance Services responds to around 700 emergency medical calls and transfers per year in the City of Jackson and parts of Jackson County and provides transfers for the Jackson Sanfords Medical Facility. Reporting to the City Administrator, the Ambulance Director directs, manages, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Ambulance Service, including, but not limited to, the provisions for emergency medical services and transportation; repairs and maintenance on equipment; implementation of services, standard operating procedures, policy, and procedure; and promotion of the highest standards of emergency medical services. This position is FLSA Exempt; it may sign up for on-call shifts but is not required to.
The ideal candidate is a team builder with the ability to bridge and positively manage relationships. The chosen candidate is a visionary who is a proactive, creative, and collaborative leader who will grow with the Jackson community as it grows. This position requires a high school diploma/GED plus a minimum of five years’ experience in emergency services and two years’ experience in leadership/management. A minimum of two years’ experience as an NR EMT is required. Paramedic experience preferred. An associate degree or bachelor’s degree in emergency services/management is preferred. The City reserves the right to allow substitutions in the event that an applicant exceeds requirements in one area but may be deficit in another. The chosen candidate must be able to obtain a state of Minnesota driver’s license and must be able to respond to incidents within a 20-minute radius.
The salary range for this position is $70,000-$95,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
