The Deputy City Manager is a newly created position in the City of Brooklyn Center. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this role will be pivotal in both strategic and administrative capacities, enhancing operational excellence and improving service delivery. Work includes overseeing the Department of Administration, including the Office of the City Clerk, IT, and communications, partnering with other department heads, and engaging with City Council and members of the community. In the absence of the city manager, the deputy city manager will interact with department heads and other employees to carry out directives established by city manager and the City Council.
The starting salary range for this position will be $127,442 - $156,219 depending on candidate education and experience. The city offers a full range of employee bene?ts, including participation in the Minnesota Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA).

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, political science, or a closely related field; and five years of supervisory experience along with five years of experience in the creation and execution of programs in the areas of strategic planning, process improvement, and system assessment. A master’s degree and five years of increasingly progressive executive level experience in a government organization is desired.
