Deputy Director, Planning & Sustainability
$140,000 (Salary Negotiable)
DeKalb County seeks a dynamic and innovative Deputy Director, Planning & Sustainability to plan, direct, and oversee operations related to business development, business attraction and retention, business outreach, and business and industry marketing that are in alignment with County planning and development initiatives. This position serves the public interest by directing and managing the daily operations of the Development division of the Planning & Sustainability department.
The ideal candidate will perform the following key responsibilities:
Develop and implement long- and short-term development plans, goals, and objectives.
Prioritize and schedule development work activities in order to meet objectives.
Manage, direct, and evaluate assigned staff; ensure subordinates have the proper resources.
Organize, prioritize, and assign work regarding business licensing, land development, plans review, inspections and permitting to meet objectives.
Provide regular progress and activity reports to county administrators and elected officials.
Ensure departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
Review and revise policies, procedures, plans and programs to meet current and future business development and retention needs.

Preferred candidates will also have a relevant master’s degree. AICP certification is required.
