Arts and Recreation Director
The City of Walnut Creek (population over 70,000), nestled just 25 miles east of San Francisco, offers a scenic urban setting adjacent to Mt. Diablo, featuring a rare blend of 2,800 acres of open space, a vibrant downtown, and a performing arts center. Reporting to the City Manager, the Arts and Recreation Director oversees a FY26 department budget of $20 million and is supported by 53.75 FTE. The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to both the arts and recreation and approach their work with enthusiasm, creativity, and strategic vision. This highly visible leader will be attentive and responsive to staff and stakeholders. High emotional intelligence is a must, as is maintaining an inclusive and equitable lens in all aspects of leadership.
