The City of San Mateo (pop. 105,661) is the largest municipality in San Mateo County, located on the San Francisco Peninsula. This culturally and economically diverse community offers an extraordinary quality of life. The Public Works Department, supported by an FY 2023-24 operating budget of $44.7 million and 158.69 FTE responsible for the maintenance, operation, design, and construction of the City’s infrastructure and the $1 billion Clean Water Program. The department also plays an integral role in the development and management of the $600 million citywide CIP.
