HARNETT COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA COUNTY MANAGER       Harnett County was formed in 1855 and is in the South-Central portion of North Carolina. It lies partially in the Coastal Plain and partially in the Piedmont section. Harnett County is the fifth fastest growing county in the State based on the US Census Bureau's population estimate for 2019 of 135,976. Approximately eighty percent (80%) of the County is unincorporated. The County seat, the Town of Lillington, has a population of 3,604 while the City of Dunn, the largest municipality located in the County, has a population of 9,718.
